There is some speculation that Apple’s content push could lead them to acquiring a Hollywood studio.

‘Apple has tapped longtime Sony Pictures Television presidents Zack Van Amburg and Jamie Erlicht for newly created posts overseeing worldwide video-related efforts at the tech giant.
They will report to Appleās top executive for all things content: Eddy Cue, senior vice president of Internet software and services, who praised the pair for their success at Sony.
After years of rumblings that Apple was combing Hollywood to find someone to steer its content strategy, the hires signal what the company was already making apparent in recent months as its first original series emerged from development: the Cupertino, Calif.-based colossus is serious about expanding its entertainment efforts.’
