Tencent, the Chinese tech giant, announced plans to open its first US based AI lab in Seattle. Rival Baidu opened its own Silicon valley based AI lab in 2014. The Seattle lab will be led by Dong Yu, formerly of Microsoft, and will focus on speech recognition.
